Live tables at Goldfields Casino, and what live betting means here
Live at a land venue means a dealer in front of you. Nine tables sit inside the three gaming areas at Stateway and Buiten Street — here is how they work.
See our partner's offer →Live at Goldfields Casino means a dealer in the room: 9 tables covering blackjack, roulette and Raise 'Em Poker, inside 3 gaming areas at the corner of Stateway and Buiten Street in Welkom. Live-dealer casino games streamed online are not licensed in South Africa, and sports betting sits under a separate bookmaker licence.
The live floor, table by table
- The venue lists 9 table games staffed by dealers: blackjack, roulette and Raise 'Em Poker are the published line-up.
- Tables sit alongside 250 slot machines inside 3 gaming areas — the main floor, a smoking area and the Salon Prive.
- The Salon Prive is the higher-limit room; access arrangements are handled at the venue rather than through any online form.
- Minimum and maximum stakes are set per table and per session, and the sign at the table is the only reliable source — ask the pit before you sit.
- Sports betting is a different licence in South Africa: bookmakers are licensed by provincial gambling boards, and a casino floor is not a bookmaker.
- Live-dealer casino games streamed over the internet are not licensed in South Africa, which is why the tables here exist only in the building.
- Play at any table is for persons 18 years and older, and dealers may ask for an identity document.
What live means online against what it means in Welkom
| Online live product | Goldfields Casino floor |
|---|---|
| Live-dealer studio stream | 9 tables with dealers in the room with you |
| In-play sports markets | A separate, provincially licensed bookmaker product — not a casino floor |
| Chat window with the dealer | Table etiquette, hand signals and a pit boss you can ask |
| Stakes set in an account | Table signage sets the minimum and maximum for that session |
| Open at any hour from home | Floor hours set by the venue, later on Fridays and Saturdays |
Two different things called live
The first is the table pit: 9 tables where a dealer shuffles, spins and pays in front of you, surrounded by the 250 machines that make up the rest of the floor. The Salon Prive holds the higher-limit end of that, with access arranged at the venue.
The second is what search results usually mean — in-play sports markets or a streamed studio table. In South Africa those are two separate categories: betting on sport and horse racing with a bookmaker licensed by a provincial gambling board is lawful, while interactive online casino games are not licensed. A casino floor is not a bookmaker, and this venue does not become one online.
If you are new to the pit, the practical questions are money questions, and they are answered on our paying-on-site page and our cashing-out page.
Sitting down at a live table
- Watch a round or two first and read the sign for the table minimum and maximum before you sit.
- Buy in with cash on the layout — place notes down rather than handing them to the dealer, who will count them into chips.
- Keep chips in your rack and your hands clear of the layout once betting closes.
- Ask the dealer or the pit boss about a rule you do not know; that is what they are there for.
- Colour up before you leave and take the chips to the cashier — machines do not accept them.
